We pray this newsletter finds you and your family well. Your faithfulness in praying and giving has allowed us to continue in ministry here in Nicaragua and for that we are so grateful! We are continuing to do what we were called here to do which is to teach the gospel and make disciples, but during this time of added hardship we have been able to also meet several physical needs.
Community of Santa Emilia
Through your generous donations we were once again able to provide one month worth of food to the 32 families (approximately 200 people) in Pastor Cesar's church, Iglesea Bautista Mahanaim. This community, like many others, continues to struggle with just having enough to meet their daily needs. As we minister to the spiritual needs we are thankful for opportunities to meet physical needs as well.
Virtual Ministry
We are still doing a large part of our ministry digitally and are in daily contact with people through phone and video calls. Even if we are not able to meet in person, we are still able to meet and disciple "face to face". We are very thankful for technology!
Ecocina Stoves
We are again blessed to have Healthy Neighbors International partnering with us to financially provide for the purchase of 66 additional smokeless stoves. These stoves are being placed in the communities of San Dionisio and Solingalpa. The Ecocina Stove Factory in Esteli is currently manufacturing the stoves and they will be ready for delivery in October. Thank you HNI!
Travel and Ministry Opportunities
These past few months have allowed us more flexibility with how we spend our days so we have been able to take advantage of a couple of travel opportunities with Greg and Grace Kynast. Greg is the Director at Nicaraguan Christian Academy and Grace runs the library and teaches English. We have been blessed with their friendship for several years. We've all been very careful in our travels and have hopefully given a lift to struggling businesses. While traveling in each place, God blessed us with opportunities to meet new pastors and church leaders. As a result of these new relationships we have begun providing ministry resources electronically through email and WhatsApp. Nicaragua is a beautiful country and the people are so welcoming. It has been a blessing to be able to see and experience more of the country where God has placed us.
Prayer Requests
Residency – Our one year residency expires on September 13. We have begun the renewal process to obtain a 5 year residency. We know God is in the details.
Travel – Our normal schedule is to travel to the U.S. in August to see our family, friends, churches and our doctors. However, due to the pandemic there have been no commercial flights coming in or leaving Nicaragua since April. We have had 4 flights cancelled. We really need to see several of our doctors and stock back up on our medications but we are trusting God with His timing.
Thank you for joining us in prayer!
