We pray this newsletter finds you and your family doing well. We are always excited to share with you what God is doing in Nicaragua. The top left picture was taken from our meeting with Christian and Marvin in Jinotega. These two young men have been in our lives for the past 5 years. They are such sweet examples of how we get to watch God grow young men here to be surrendered to His will and live lives that glorify Him.
Support Fundraising Update
In September we provided a status on our monthly Missionary Support confirming that due to the effect of economic conditions on individual supporters and churches, our monthly support had dropped by $1100 and our account had depleted as a result. During September and October, we have been blessed with new monthly support partners with increased monthly contributions of $471. We have also received a few generous one-time gifts that have helped to replenish our account. This leaves us with a need for additional monthly support of $629 per month and additional one-time gifts to continue replenishing our account.
As we continue to pray for God’s provision, we are asking for current partnering churches and individuals to “promote” the need and new churches and individuals to partner with us both with one-time gifts to replenish our account and also commitments of monthly giving to meet the additional $629 monthly need.
Thank you for the very important role you play in these blessings. We excitedly wait to see who God will bring alongside to partner with us in His ministry to the people of Nicaragua.
Evangelism Training In The Community Of El Zapote
We met with a group of 4 churches from the communities of El Zapote and El Chile. They came together for resource discussion, evangelism training and outreach preparation. It is a blessing to serve them, provide the resources and training to empower them and walk with them in ministry.
Mark Caskey Bible Institute Celebration
Teaching at the Bible Institute has been such a privilege. It was fun to be a part of the celebration of their academic progress. We are already looking forward to next year!
Partnering With Pastors
God is always faithful to lead us into His revealed purpose for us to serve pastors and their church families. He continues to place them in our path and bring them to our home. We have been busy meeting with all of these pastors, going over resources, scheduling trainings and establishing relationships while serving together.
UNAN University
We always enjoy our time with the students at UNAN University. This group of students are 5th-year seniors in the Tourism degree and will be graduating in December. We never know exactly how God will use this time but we know we are being obedient by going and we trust the outcome (whether we see it or not) will bring Him glory.
Bible Studies
From the beginning of our ministry, we have provided study materials for Bible studies. This has been a great resource for a season. God has impressed on us the need to make sure what we do here is sustainable. There are so many biblically sound resources available digitally. Not everyone has access to the internet, but enough of the leaders do in each area to make this a great resource. Our challenge is teaching them how to navigate, find, and use what is available. It is exciting to witness their reaction when they understand what is available for them to study and learn.
Friday Night Discipleship
In our Friday Discipleship Group, we have been using videos and a Bible study from Tim Tebow’s This is the Day to encourage these young men to live out in action the purpose God has designed for each of them to glorify Him! The questions they ask and the discussions we have are so encouraging. God is working!
Healthy Neighbors International
Healthy Neighbors International has been faithfully providing for annual doctor visits and medicine for patients since 2014. This is a huge blessing for people who would otherwise not receive the care they need. We are so thankful for HNI!
Living Life Together
A very important part of our ministry and purpose here is to establish relationships. The result of this is just living life with the people God puts in our path. We met Gerald at the university several years ago and he began attending our Sunday Bible studies. We have loved watching him grow in his English skills, but more importantly, his love for the Lord. It was a privilege to be invited to attend his wedding in October.
Prayer Requests*
We are once again running into some hiccups with our residency renewal. We are waiting on some documents from the U.S. and are praying the Nicaraguan side documents will all be current at the time we need them. We are also praying for favor because we are now overdue. We know God is in the details and are trusting Him and His timing.
* We are continuing to pray for additional financial provision for our personal support and for ministry as God continues to lead us.
